Teacher Fellow


Responsibilities and Duties: Driven by our mission to ensure every child succeeds, the founding teaching fellows will be responsible for ensuring all students are provided with the academic and character skills to firmly position them on the path to college. Teaching fellows work alongside classroom teachers and develop skills in preparation to take lead classroom positions. Joining our team as a founder provides a unique opportunity to help build the culture and legacy of Ambition Prep as it becomes an enduring and premier education option for generations of students to come. Elementary Teacher (2021-2022)


Responsibilities and Duties: 1. Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students 2. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and is developmentally appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students 3. Prepare lessons that reflect best practices and accommodations for individual differences of students 4. Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor 5. Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior 6. Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects to communicate these objectives to the students 7. Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with best practices, specific content knowledge, the physical limitations of the space provided, and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved. 8. SPED Teacher (2021-2022)


Responsibilities and Duties: Instructional Strategies: 1. Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the State Department of Education. 2. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations and differentiation for student learning styles. 3. Collaborate with other members of staff for planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and best practices according to district requirements. 4. Design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity. Student Growth and Development: 1. Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies, assessment, activities, materials, and technology that reflect accommodations for individual needs of students assigned. 2. Work cooperatively with Students Support Coordinator to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP). 3. Assist students in analyzing and improving study methods and habits. 4. Consistently monitor student achievement through formal and informal assessment and use results to plan for instructional delivery. 5. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Classroom Management and Organization: 1. Part-Time Elementary Music Teacher (2021-2022)


Program and Role Description: At Ambition Prep, our Music teacher combines the ability to motivate and educate students to develop academic as well as character skills, through music instruction. The music teacher has a growth mindset and participates in rigorous professional development throughout the year, including Classroom management training, collaborative planning sessions, whole and small group school-wide focus professional development, team analysis of performance data and other personalized opportunities growth. Our teachers also receive coaching and have the opportunity to visit other high-performing charter schools to study and grow best practices. Responsibilities:

  • Introduce music standards based on age and grade through music theory music composition, music interpretation, music literature and genres, instrumentation knowledge and musical performance.

Finance Associate (2021-2022)


Position Roles and Responsibilities: The Finance Associate is responsible for the daily accounts payable and receivable operations as well as general school compliance task. S/he will cultivate sharing and collaboration within the community and work to build a scalable and efficient finance/operational infrastructure, providing exceptional service and support to our school, ensuring their continued fiscal/operational success, and working to support the schools’ mission and our high expectations for all. Responsibilities of the Finance Associate include, but are not limited to: Business Operations:

  • Work alongside our finance and operations team to drive annual priorities for the School
  • Manage an online library of documents/resources for the school finance/ops team
  • Purchase school supplies/resources in compliance with fiscal procedures
  • Ensure compliance with Title I/II/III and other federal funds
  • Ensures Food Service compliance and claims in accordance with National School Lunch Reimbursement Program (NSLP) requirements
  • Oversee support on program budgeting, fiscal compliance, grant compliance, and reporting.

Grants Management:
  • Generate grants claims and reporting documentation
  • Purchasing & Receivables:
  • Works with the operations team to facilitate purchases while ensuring cost-savings, abiding by internal, state, and federal purchasing laws.

Bus Monitor (2021-2022)


Job Responsibilities: Bus monitors assist school bus drivers in maintaining a safe and orderly environment while buses are in operation. Monitors are responsible for a variety of tasks, which are explained below. Bus monitors work approximately one to two hours in the morning and in the afternoon. Morning routes may begin as early as 5:50 A.M. and afternoon routes begin at approximately 3:00 P.M. Bus monitors may be asked to support field lessons and other school activities that necessitate bus travel. Bus monitors follow the school calendar. This is a part-time, hourly position. Essential Functions: 1. Ensures the safety and well-being of children and adults being transported to and from the school and on field trips. 2. Completes a comprehensive written inspection of the bus daily, reporting any conditions of concern to the Coordinator, or delegated staff person, before transporting children. 3. Ensures that the bus always has sufficient fuel. 4. Operates bus in such a way that road and safety regulations are always followed; reports any traffic violations to the Director immediately. 5. Follows procedures to guarantee no child is left alone on a bus without adult supervision at any time, including ensuring all children have departed the bus at the end of all bus routes (morning, evening and during field trips or other special trips). 6. Keeps the bus clean and free of debris; follows other bus cleaning procedures. 7. Routinely inventories bus emergency and first aid supplies and equipment, reports needs to the Director, or delegated staff person. 8. Attend transportation in-service training of bus drivers and other continuing education, career and professional development opportunities. 9. In case of accidents/emergencies, evacuates children according to written and practiced procedures. 10. In the event of an accident, assures that medical emergency procedures are followed; completes a written accident report as required by the delegate's procedure and other authorities. 11. Support student recruitment, enrollment, and retention activities as needed. 12. Performs other duties, as assigned. Business Operations Fellow


Responsibilities and Duties: Ambition Preparatory Charter School is deeply committed to ensuring that every student in grades K-8 receive the high-quality education that they deserve. Our mission is to provide students with the academic skills and self-discipline needed for college and life success through high-quality instruction, intensive academic supports, and hard work. We are a new college preparatory elementary and middle school recently opening our doors to Kindergarten - 2nd-grade students in Jackson, MS. Job Responsibilities: The Business Operations Fellow, under the supervision of the Administrative Leadership Team. The Team will assist with the oversight and management of school systems, including facilities, data, food, transportation, technology, attendance. Responsibilities of the Business Operations Fellow will include, but are not limited to: Student Recruitment and Marketing:

  • Assist with executing the student recruitment plan including mailings, phone calls, events, canvassing,
  • Organize and coordinate events
  • Review student data
  • Track technology inventory and serve as the liaison between the school and IT vendor
  • Create and order marketing materials for the school
  • Manage the school website and social media updates
Operations and Team Management:
  • Become familiar with and work with the Office Manager on the day to day office operations
  • Participate in student arrival and dismissal, including tardiness and early dismissal
  • Manage student information systems and IT data
  • Maintain schools supply inventory
Transportation and Food Services:
  • Alongside the Operations Leadership manage daily student transportation to and from school and student lunch procedures
  • Coordinate school field lessons
  • Ensure meals are served on time, and food services staff have the necessary tools and supplies
Facilities:
  • Monitor the school's facilities and safety procedures/protocols
  • Conduct campus audits and ensure compliance
  • Assist with facility vendor relations
  • Support custodial staff with purchasing of supplies and communicating with vendors
Accountability and Reporting:
  • Gather, input, and create data reports as needed for school administrators
  • Ensure school data in the student information system is accurate and up-to-date
Desired and Required Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Background check passed, required
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience in working with teams and individuals to meet specific and strategic outcomes
